About CollegeKnowledge

CollegeKnowledge was created by Kari Sulcer, Nationally Certified Counselor, because of a need to help students with the ever changing and overwhelming process of applying to college. myphoto

“I can confirm that the entrance gates to college have never been more difficult to open.  This past year was the most competitive year ever for college admissions.  Whatever experiences and emotions you have linked to the college admission process, I can help alleviate some of that stress.”

Most students have a school counselor, so why look for an independent college counselor? Access to college information is a significant benefit to students in the college application process.  For many students, particularly those in public schools, college counseling is limited at best.  Counselors are few in number, stretched to the limit with student caseloads and limited in the amount of time they are able to dedicate to college counseling.

I can complement your child’s counselor’s efforts by working closely with your child, customizing a strategic plan of action that will help him or her get into the best colleges of his or her choice.  Additionally, I help keep your child organized and motivated throughout the application process.  Careful planning in this stressful time is crucial. To help, I am flexible with my schedule.  You decide how you want to work with me: either face-to-face, by phone or e-mail, or a combination of the above.

Experience:Kari Sulcer is a Nationally Certified Counselor with a Masters in School Counseling.  She is currently a school counselor at Brentwood High School, the #1 Comprehensive High School in Tennessee according to Newsweek Magazine.

Unique Methodology: Seeking admission to college is more than just test scores and grades. I help you focus on your own self-discovery, a step that is integral to identifying institutions that match your academic and personal needs.

Customized Service: Whether you want face-to-face counseling, or e-mail/phone interaction, you determine what works for you based on your schedule.

Individual Attention:  I have the luxury of getting to know your student.  High school counselors are responsible for hundreds of students.  They work hard, but can only do so much for individual students.  They have to consider programs based on the entire student population.  I have the time to devote to your student.

Counselors with RECENT experience: Why work with a retired professional or someone who has not read an admissions application in several years?  I have recent experience in selective admissions and college counseling.

Confidentiality: I will work with the efforts of your high school guidance counselor, if you so desire. Otherwise, all work is kept strictly confidential.

Highest standards of ethics and good practice:Kari Sulcer is associated with the American Counseling Association and the National Association for College Admissions Counseling.   She adheres to the American School Counselor Association Code of Ethics
